Spoken English

These courses are intended for people who may have a passing knowledge of the English language but feel the need to develop or improve their active communication skills within the multi-national and multi-lingual community of the present-day UAE, where English is so often the prime language.

Courses are conducted at four different levels:

  • Level 1: Beginner
  • Level 2: Elementary
  • Level 3: Post-elementary
  • Level 4: Intermediate

Each level builds on the language skills already acquired from school/university or work experience - or from the skills taught at the previous level. At every level, the course carefully combines listening and speaking skills and methodically integrates core grammar and vocabularly required for everyday communication. This is done by focusing mainly on functional and situational language. Attention is also given at all levels to improving pronounciation, including stress and intonation.

All activities in these courses are designed to build student confidence in terms of using the language taught or already known, and as such, require a high level of student participation. Many of the activities involve students working with each other to practice so their fluency in the language increases. Every effort is made to ensure that the class atmosphere is relaxed yet purposeful and students are encouraged to try out and practice their spoken English without fear of making mistakes. The purpose of these courses is to helo people communicate.

All courses run for a period of 30 hours and may run either 2, 3 or 5 days per week based on availability and demand.
